Arthritis, Bursitis Neck and Arm Pain

Arthritis, bursitis neck and arm pain:

The word arthritis means joint inflammation, not joint disease. It is however an extremely painful condition which plagues millions of people around the world. Arthritis happens when a joint begins to dry up. A joint in this context, is two bones that with the aid of muscles can be moved in relation to one another.

Chinese medicine uses tiger parts to treat arthritis. I am certain that as much as I do not believe that rhino horn has any of its acclaimed properties, nor do tiger parts. Sadly due to this’ animal parts can cure anything’ mindset, precious and rare animals are killed some to the brink of extinction and not always humanely.

Moving parts whether in a machine or in a living organism need lubrication. The body’s lubricant is synovial fluid and it is synthesized by membranes in the joints called bursae. Before the bursae can make synovial fluid they need to receive raw materials by way of a blood supply which is controlled by a nerve supply from the neck, in this case the C5-C6 area. A misaligned neck will predispose to many health problems, Arthritis being only one of them.

When the neck is in proper alignment it has a classic ‘convex to the anterior’ shape. This is described in medical terms as a normal lordosis where nerves and arteries are free. As a result the joints will be lubricated and free of pain. If the words “loss of lordosis” appear on an x-ray report, you are well advised to consult a chiropractor. The words ‘a stitch in time’ come to mind.

The most common sites for arthritis are the neck, and upper extremities. Tennis elbow is another common problem associated with loss of lordosis in the neck; what I call the ‘C5-C6 syndrome’. The reason it is called ‘Tennis elbow’ is because the joint is dry and made to work .The other elbow is just as dry but is not being put to work. The arthritis sufferer, in every case that I have seen in 38 years of practice, had a history of neck injury which happened on average ten to twenty years prior to the onset of the arthritis. In some cases arthritis can manifest much sooner. The more advanced cases are referred to as ‘Rheumatoid’. Those who suffer from Rheumatoid arthritis will have very painful and swollen joints mainly fingers.

Typically, at the time of the neck injury, usually a whiplash, vertebrae are misaligned and move backwards onto the spinal cord, spinal nerves and vertebral arteries When this happens, the spinal cord, vertebral arteries and spinal nerves are interfered with resulting in what has already been described and leads to a general loss in terms of quality of life including sleep apnia, irritability, depression, weight gain, headache and a host of other sicknesses and symptoms. Arthritis is just one of the symptoms one can expect from neck misalignment.

Chiropractors have been helping arthritis sufferers for over 100 years to the dismay and irritation of the enemies of true health, who will do everything they can to keep you away from the chiropractor. Chiropractors deal with the cause of health disorders, not only the symptoms. This is especially true in the case of Arthritis.

In closing let me advise anyone who is interested in optimizing and maximizing their health potential, not only arthritis sufferers, to consult their chiropractor and have their necks examined. It will be found in most cases that there is loss of lordosis. Start taking care of your most valued asset the most natural way. Get adjusted for life and tell someone you love about chiropractic.
